Mr Arjun Takhar

Consultant Hepatobiliary and General Surgeon

Mr Arjun Takhar is a Consultant Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton with a specialist focus on hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and liver transplant surgery. He is also
Clinical Lead for HPB Surgery and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Southampton.
He holds degrees in medicine and medical science from the University of Nottingham, as well as a PhD in gastrointestinal surgery. His training included a fellowship in laparoscopic liver surgery at UHS and higher surgical training at the Birmingham Liver Unit. He was awarded FRCS in 2010 and CCT in 2013.
Mr Takhar’s clinical interests include neuroendocrine tumours, large abdominal tumour resections, and liver metastases from ocular and cutaneous melanoma. He is an active trainer, co-leads the Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons (NOTSS) course, and serves as Deputy Director for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s surgical adviser network.
