Dr Sachin Modi

Consultant Interventional Radiologist

Dr Sachin Modi is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at University Hospital Southampton, with specialist expertise in vascular, non-vascular, and interventional oncology procedures. He is particularly renowned for his work in liver-directed therapies for primary and metastatic liver cancer.
After graduating from St George’s, University of London, in 2007, Dr Modi completed specialist training in the West Midlands and a prestigious fellowship in interventional oncology at McGill University, Canada. He was appointed as a Consultant in 2015.
Dr Modi plays a key role in Southampton’s internationally recognised chemosaturation program and is a national expert in selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT). He also provides transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) and other advanced liver interventions, including TIPSS and percutaneous biliary procedures.
In addition to oncology, he performs embolisation procedures for benign conditions such as uterine fibroids (UAE), prostate enlargement (PAE), and varicoceles. As part
of the vascular team, he also treats trauma-related bleeding, aneurysms, and peripheral vascular disease.
He is highly experienced in diagnostic radiology and image-guided procedures, with expertise in liver MRI, CT, ultrasound, and biopsies.
Dr Modi has co-authored over 100 research publications and presentations and regularly advises NICE and other national bodies. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, time with his family, and following cricket and football.
